Many of us weren't even there yet we feel some sort of nostalgia for a period of history that was a breeding ground for individualism and saw many radical changes in fashion, music and lifestyles. From the new shopkeepers shunning consumerism on Carnaby Street setting new trends in fashion through to the birth of The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd reimagining how music should sound.
Now the era is being brought together in a season on Yesterday channel under the banner of 'Spirit of the 60s' which includes programmes on mods and rockers, The Beatles and WAGS of 66. The season has been extended via a Facebook application that includes a gallery of images, the chance to 'sixtify yourself' and a quick, fun quiz that determines which famous 60’s icon best matches their personality.
Implications - The sixties is an era that resonates with many people, both young and old. Through the use of Facebook it's now possible to recreate and experience the era like never before.
