Idea-Inspired Art Shows

The Source Material Exhibit Focuses on Personal Objects of Creative Minds

There are art shows that focus on art and then there is the Source Material exhibit. Instead of featuring the results of a creative endeavor, this event puts on display the personal objects that inspired ideas, thoughts and creations. The Source Material exhibit tapped 54 different creative minds including designers, musicians, chefs and architects, to see what items heavily influenced their work.

The Source Material exhibit was curated by English designer and entrepreneur Jasper Morrison, industrial designer and design researcher Jonathan Olivares and Apartamento Magazine Editor-in-Chief and art director Marco Velardi. Morrison shares, "I do a lot of looking around and reflecting on what I see--and occasionally, there’s a spark. In my case the best ideas come suddenly, without much effort, but I think they only arrive because of the observation process."
