Elegant Ice Cream Shops

The Snow Picnic Ice Cream Store Was Redesigned by Torafu Architects

Noted Japanese architectural practice Torafu has embarked on a tasteful redesign of the interior of a colorful and welcoming ice cream store, Snow Picnic, in Nakano Ward in the Japanese capital Tokyo.

The Snow Picnic redesign allows for customers to see their order being prepared for them. The space is designed in such a way that the kitchen and adjacent counter are almost envisioned as a stage upon which the 'performance' of putting together delicious ice cream takes place.

The ice cream shop is spread across three levels, with each level boasting a distinct floor covering. However, materials are repeated throughout the design in order to establish a continuous sense of cohesion. The same vintage tiles are utilized for the entrance flooring and tabletops, while timber wood is used throughout the space. Photo Credits: designboom, torafu
