This Poutine-Eating Contest Was Sponsored By Smoke's Poutinerie

Smoke's Poutinerie is a Canadian franchise that specializes in serving one of the country's most popular foods, poutine -- fries soaked in gravy and delicious cheese curds. To promote their brand, the company sponsored the World Poutine Eating Championship in Canada's largest city, Toronto.

The competition included both professional and amateur divisions. The professional championship was won by world competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut, who downed an incredible 24 pounds of Smoke's Poutinerie poutine in 10 minutes. The amateur division was won by Steven Dorgo, who consumed eight pounds in six minutes.

In addition to dealing with the threat posed by their competitors and the inherent difficulties of shoving massive amounts of fries, gravy and cheese down your throat, contestants also had to deal with inclement weather, with rain and chilly winds making proceedings even more extreme than expected.
