Photographer Tatsuta Tanaka has relied on daily objects at home, including a soap dispenser from the Japanese brand Muji, to highlight a series of tiny artworks for the Small Muji show. It is currently on display at NYCxDesign 2025, and Tanaka is known for his mini artworks based on the Japanese concept of 'mitate.'
The art reframes objects in a different context so that it take on a new meaning. This is a traveling exhibition which is currently stopping at New York. Muji explains more on the design, stating, "Tanaka transforms Muji products into representations of varied life scenes in this exhibition through a shift in perspective, weaving together a tapestry of life imbued with creativity, whimsy and humour."
