Sign by Shruti Nivas, an industrial designer based in Pune, India, is an updated version of the classic white cane used by the visually impaired. It essentially acts like a mobile traffic light. When the user is about to perform a potentially dangerous action (such as crossing the street), the walking stick illuminates with a bright red light to signal other pedestrians and drivers to stop (or at the very least be cautious) when around him or her. It shines with a green light when the user the user requires a helping hand.

Although not exactly hi-tech, Sign by Shruti Nivas is modernized to get people's attention in an intuitive way. The lights are triggered by two buttons.
