Schieblocks Reimagines Office Typology with a Stacked Urban Campus

Schieblocks by MVRDV proposes a layered campus for Rotterdam by stacking eleven distinct office volumes across a long, narrow site beside the railway. The 47,000 square metre scheme treats each block as a recognisable piece to break down the massing and create a three-dimensional neighbourhood.

The composition establishes varied façade treatments that reference local industrial architecture while forming an active edge along the tracks. The design also introduces interior streets and through connections that link workplaces, retail and public circulation within a continuous urban spine.

The upper floors host flexible office environments and meeting terraces, while the ground level integrates small shops, a bike café and transparent routes that open the complex to the city. A rooftop landscape wraps around several blocks and includes solar arrays, planted terraces and viewpoints over Rotterdam.
