Rui Pereira Takes Influence from the Alleys of Milan

Rui Pereira is an artist who has recently taken his inspiration from the Milanese street vendors. The collection is called 'Tanque' to reference these individuals.

"Wanting to pay homage to their ability to create functional objects from little resources, the containers can be used as vases or even as aquariums," states the artist on DesignBoom. The containers themselves look like terracotta material, giving off a very earthy look that blends well with the surroundings. With this color used and the overall look of the vases/aquariums, they would fit in well on an outside patio or beside a garden, as they are not too bright to overpower the other pieces of decor.

These pieces demonstrate how artists do not have to create something extravagant in order for it to be distinct. Photo Credits: designboom, rui-pereira
