The Ropeshelf re-imagines the typical bookcase into something more malleable and intriguing. In place of a typical solid and horizontal shelving unit, the Ropeshelf boasts a flexible and slanted one made out of, you guessed it, layers of rope fastened to a frame.
Created by Budapest-based product designer Laszlo Rozsnoki, the Ropeshelf does not conform to the concept that storage furniture should optimize space. Instead, the Ropeshelf has more of an artistic aesthetic through its diagonal surfaces. Therefore, the Ropeshelf becomes more of a sculptural piece in the home rather than a practical piece.
By breaking away from the accepted furniture mold, the Ropeshelf shows that a home does not always have to exist to just serve a purpose, it can also exist to please the senses.
