Sci-Fi Work Glove

The Robo-Glove Relieves Stress for the Space Handyman

The new Robo-glove or K-Glove is the latest invention to come out of the collaboration between GM and NASA. Inspired by the "leading-edge sensors, actuators and tendons" of the R2 robot launched in 2011 (now a permanent resident at the International Space Station), the Robo-glove is designed to reduce the amount of force needed to wield certain tools.

The idea is to eliminate stress-related injuries to muscles being repeatedly exerted while performing basic maintenance work. Rather than having to use 20 pounds of force, an astronaught in a pressurized space suit working outside the station would only have to use about 10 pounds of force.

Implications - The Robo-Glove is just one of many inventions to come out of the GM and NASA's collaborative efforts and continues to inspire innovations for future space-related technology.
