UK-based architect Simon Astridge makes gorgeous repurposed garden offices out of shipping containers. Most recently, Astridge had been tasked with designing a backyard office in a conservation area within Hatton Garden in London's Camden.
Astridge used shipping containers as both a medium, and a metaphor, as the industrial properties of the containers reference the industrial history of London. An open space on the ground floor was created by three joined containers, while a fourth container is situated on top, now offering a serene tree-view space.
Bright teal-colored accents neutralize the subtleties of the room like lightly colored walls and delicate clay accessories.
Astridge aimed to make his repurposed garden offices a place where people could interact with their surroundings, a space where people "[won't be] able to keep their hands in their pockets."
