Robert Mondavi Winery Unveils Its Reimagined Oakville Estate

Robert Mondavi Winery reopened its Oakville estate on 20 April after a three-year, US$200 million renovation led by owner Constellation Brands, featuring a new hospitality wing and a modernised To Kalon Cellar. The relaunch includes guided cellar tours, curated tastings and newly designed indoor-outdoor tasting areas, with architecture by Aidlin Darling Design and landscape work from Surfacedesign.

The estate preserves signature Cliff May elements such as the arch and tower while adding an inverted gable canopy, terraces, a culinary building and water features tied to sustainable stewardship. Interior fittings by BAMO incorporate hand-painted tiles and repurposed materials, and the cellar gained optical sorting, gravity-flow systems and temperature-controlled fermentation for precise lot vinification.

For visitors and wine collectors, the overhaul enhances on-site experiences and supports a site-driven winemaking focus using certified-organic To Kalon fruit, boosting terroir expression and hospitality appeal. The reopening coincides with the winery’s 60th anniversary and a limited 2023 Commemorative Edition Cabernet release.
