Kelly Wearstler Adds a Plethora of Patterns to the Quill Room

American designer Kelly Wearstler designs the Quill Room, which is an intimate cocktail lounge located inside a hotel in Austin, Texas. It is meant to evoke the opulence of the old world whilst also celebrating modern elegance. It can be found as an extension to the dining and drinking options of the Austin Proper Hotel and Residences. It rests on the second floor and features a menu that serves French-inspired dishes to enjoy with live music programmings for the guests.

Wearstler talks about the design to Dezeen, explaining that "The design of The Quill Room is a balance between old-world opulence and modern elegance. The salon-style bar pairs the aesthetics to transport guests to another time within Downtown Austin, while still reflecting the city's creative and music scenes. A highlight would have to be the gold wall It's actually an adaptation of a piece from my own archive, originally created during the UK's 1920s Arts & Crafts movement."
