Pure by Jean Nouvel is Made from Only Three Types of Materials

'Pure' by Jean Nouvel is a capsule shoe collection from the renowned French architect. Nouvel designed Pure for the Italian shoe company Ruco Line. As its name suggests, the shoes found in Pure are made with a handful of simple materials including rubber (used for the soles), calf leather (used for the upper) and Lycra (the lining inside the shoe).

Nouvel's choice to only use three materials gives his shoes a unique look, to say the least. However, it also makes you question just how many different types of materials are used to make a modern pair of shoes. Each pair of Pure shoes by Jean Nouvel comes with the abbreviation 'NVL PR 13,' which can be found on the upper of the boot. Also, each pair is given its own serial number to increase the exclusivity factor.
