This Version of the Proust Alessandro Mendini Chair is Made of Marble

The original Proust Alessandro Mendini chair first came out in 1978, but it has since been reintroduced with a colorful print under the name of Geometrica and now, as a sleek marble carving.

Italian marble company Robot City took on the challenge of reinterpreting the chair completely in marble for Ventura Lambrate in Milan. Marble print fabric has been pretty popular over the last couple of years and from a distance, it would be easy enough to be tricked into thinking this chair is fabric-covered. However, unlike the original Proust chair, this version is much heavier, made from a single block of white marble that weighed a hefty 38.7 tons.

The carved marble chair features all of the details of the first version of the Mendini chair, including the ornate details on the frame of the chair.
