Heinz Created Edible Ads to Promote Its Newest Ketchup Product in Brazil

For years, some food brands have been etching or printing on food as a way of offering an alternative to sticker labels and Heinz introduced a similar concept with branded bacon.

To announce the launch of its Caramelised Onion & Bacon Ketchup in Brazil, Heinz decided to appeal to bacon lovers in a fun way on International Bacon Day. For the celebration, food trucks branded the promotional pieces of bacon to say "HEINZ BACON’S ARRIVED" with a special iron bar at a high heat. Additionally, some partnering burger and sandwich joints were also sharing the creatively branded bacon strips on International Bacon Day.

A number of brands have run edible advertising experiments, including everything from large-scale candy and burger billboards to monogrammed ice cubes and safe-to-eat food wrappers.
