Kirkby Design — a textile firm from Nottinghamshire, released five bespoke printed textured fabrics as part of its collaboration with British designer Tom Dixon. The aesthetic was taken from a series of photographs by London-based creative Peer Lindgreen. These images are busy and particularly observant.
Kirkby Design was commissioned by Dixon and the firm zeroed in on a particular image, manipulating it to produce repetition. The photographs include close-ups of "foil, fibrous hair, two types of marble-like stone – one brown and one grey – and charred wood." Kirkby Design digitally superimposed them on a material. The result is a mesmerizing collection of printed textured fabrics that boldly answer to Tom Dixon's approach to artistry.
