This New Primera Curriculum Puts Printing in Focus

This new Primera curriculum has been debuted by the specialty printer brand as a way to incorporate its hardware into STEM/STEAM educational experiences. The curriculum comes as a first of its kind for the industry that will cover grades five through 8 and nine through 12 with Eddie The Edible Ink Printer and the Freddie The Frosting Machine. The equipment is NSF-certified and ready to be used in the classroom thanks to its prowess in professional bakeries and commercial kitchens alike.

Vice President of Sales & Marketing Mark Strobel spoke on the Primera curriculum saying, "No one in this industry has ever focused on schools – not with professional-grade equipment, and certainly not with a real curriculum. We now have a complete program from fifth grade through twelfth grade. A teacher can walk into the classroom on Day 1 and know exactly what to do through Day 90 or Day 180, depending on the course. There is nothing else like this in the market."

Trend Themes

  1. Edible Printing in Education — The integration of food-safe, classroom-ready edible printers creates novel hands-on learning experiences that merge culinary arts with digital design and engineering concepts.
  2. Professional-grade STEM Hardware in Classrooms — Schools adopting industry-standard equipment enable a closer simulation of workplace environments, fostering deeper vocational skill development and potential equipment-as-a-service models for districts.
  3. Curriculum-branded Hardware Partnerships — Device manufacturers supplying ready-made curricula alongside hardware open pathways for vertically integrated educational products that standardize teaching and drive recurring hardware and content adoption.

Industry Implications

  1. Educational Technology — EdTech platforms that incorporate certified hardware and modular curricula can redefine classroom tooling by bundling devices, content, and assessment into unified solutions.
  2. Commercial Baking and Confectionery — Bakeries and pastry suppliers stand to benefit from educational feeder programs that create a talent pipeline familiar with professional edible-printing equipment and new production workflows.
  3. STEM/STEAM Curriculum Development — Curriculum developers working with manufacturers can expand offerings into experiential, cross-disciplinary programs that blend digital fabrication, food science, and design thinking.
