Tree-Like Woodland Sculptures

'Pine Sanctuary' is a Public Artwork in Mississauga, Ontario

Nothing can compare to the beautiful complexity of nature, but 'Pine Sanctuary' by Marc Fornes and THEVERYMANY shows that artists will always strive to come close. The impressive sculpture sits at the entrance to a large park in Mississauga, Ontario, and, according to the artists and design team behind it, "... it provides a unique spatial experience for visitors to wander through and enjoy."

Though Pine Sanctuary is designed to be an approximation of a tree, it's clearly an artistic envisioning of that organism. It has a sort of pop-art cartoonishness to it, which is the result of stainless steel panels in stark white and black and garish green. The underside of the sculptural structure is equally captivating, with cyan swirls that look like a hallucinogenic sky.
