Taking two-dimensional paper pieces and creating a three-dimensional installation project, artist Liz Miller makes these worlds out of her carefully constructed paper design cutouts.
Named Recalcitrant Mimesis, the installation explores what would happen if the artist's work came alive and started to take over the living world in an explosion of color and shape. With a flat perspective, the art would look like abstract paint splatters in rich autumn hues with a slight Rorschach permutation going on. Within the installation however, the art invades the viewers environment, creating a lively forest of 2D silhouettes that looks as though they were alight with fire.
