There are three main phases of the sea creature's lifestyle that are taken into consideration. The shoe's heel nods to the Polyp, which is a plant-like structure that is embedded into the ocean's floor. The midsection references the Ephyra, which breaks off the first part to metamorphosis into a jellyfish. Finally, the Medusa is the two-foot wide final form of the creature.
