Playful Wooden Home Interiors

Olioli Has Unvarnished Wooden Interior Walls

From the outside, Olioli, a small family home designed by Japanese architecture firm Seets, looks just like many of the other homes in the area. But Olioli's vinyl siding on the exterior gives way to a charming and playful space on the interior, one that befits the young family who live there.

Olioli is in Mitaka, a rural suburb of Tokyo. Surrounded by trees and fields, the inhabitants of the residence were looking for a home that was in harmony with the nature of the area. Rather than achieving that harmony through complex forms, Seets did so by using a unique style of interior building. The interior of the home has stairways and balconies in uncommon locations, and it's clad in unfinished pine boards to further give the appearance and scent of the outdoors.
