Offline navigation now gives drivers going through patchy data connections or with no Internet access the ability to still search and receive directions on Google Maps. The update comes about half a year after it was first announced but is well worth the wait.
This means that data interruptions won't ruin loaded map pages anymore and will allow the app to function at any time. As long as the user saves the city that they are searching, that location is available to be searched at any time.
Offline navigation will still include directions, the only difference being that the directions will be based on average travel time instead of updated based on traffic. The Google Maps app update will also allow users to search various restaurants and businesses, all with no cellular connection.
