Trolley-Inspired Wire Chairs

Thomas Feichtner Designed the Octagon Chair with Wire Techniques

Austrian designer Thomas Feichtner worked alongside a group of craftsman to create the Octagon chair using a technique that's often implemented on wire fences. The Octagon chair was entirely created from wires in collaboration with H + S Zauntechnik, a wire manufacturer based in Styria, Austria. Feichtner recalled a shopping trolley when creating the furniture's structure due to its wire welded form. He infused the structure of a cantilever chair -- with the support of only one leg as the foundation of the entire piece.

The corners of the Octagon chair collectively form the seat and backrest, which are reinforced by overlapping techniques, creating a stronger gridded design. The furniture piece will be showcased at Designmonet Graz in Germany from May 5th to June 3rd.
