Artist Erik Jones Mixes the Female Form with Digital Graffiti Effects

The 'In Colour' series of nude graffiti portraits by Brooklyn-based artist Erik Jones mixes together traditional female forms with digital-mimicking graffiti effects.

Both two dimensional and three dimensional spaces and elements are explored and represented through nude female figures that have been juxtaposed against a series of colorful abstractions. A graphic graffiti aesthetic also takes on digital-like qualities that seem to be almost haphazardly placed upon the canvas. Jones explains his approach as attempting to mimick the look of if "an inexperienced, non-artistic person were exploring a digital drawing program for the first time."

These nude graffiti portraits follow the contemporary approach of both graphic and fashion design and combine a number of different artistic mediums. The artwork of Jones features mixtures of watercolor, wax pastel, both oil and acrylic paint as well as colored pencil markings.
