Underground Bunker Nightclub Designs

Bernard Khoury Returns to Update His B018 to Be Even Darker

Bernard Khoury is the Lebanese architect who is responsible for the nightclub design of B018. The venue is located in an underground bunker in Beirut and has proven to be a popular destination -- perhaps due to its unconventional placement and overall aesthetic.

While B018 first opened its doors back in 1998, Bernard Khoury issued a renovation process to make the nightclub design even darker. The history behind the venue infuses its presence on the scene with an ominous character, however, it also bears communally binding effects as B018 was initially "underground music night in the 1980s against the backdrop of the Lebanon War."

The new nightclub design is rooted strongly in religious architecture with strong gothic elements.
