Branded Basketball Court Graffiti

Artist Kaws' Murals Cover Two Courts for Nike's 'New York Made'

The cultures of basketball and the street have gone together since the early 70s at least, and Brooklyn-based artist Kaws' new murals for Nike's 'New York Made' project continues the entanglement of those two cultural entities. The two murals cover side-by-side courts off of Stanton Street in Manhattan.

Nike's New York Made project is a series of art and culture installations designed to highlight the brand's deep roots in the city. As such, a graffiti mural on basketball courts is an appropriate homage. Street ball in New York is the stuff of legends, with some of the greatest basketball players of all time having played on the courts throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan in their youths.
