Japanese design firm 1110 Office for Architecture creates the Necklace Villa right on the northern coast of Awaji Island. The holiday residence is defined by a range of rooms that surround a courtyard, forming an indoor dog run as well. The looped form links the rooms rather than separating them with walls.
Founder of the studio, Hiroto Kawaguchi shared with Dezeen, "Awaji Island is currently undergoing rapid changes. In response to the landscape becoming more theme park-like, we considered the question of what aspects will remain unchanged, and how architecture should respond to this transformation. We aimed to block the views from nearby houses and the passing cars on the road, ensuring that only the natural environment, such as the sky, greenery, and sea, remains visible."
