Distorted Grid Libraries

The National Library of the Czech Republic Receives an Interesting Design

Guarnieri Architects has proposed a distinct design for the National Library of the Czech Republic. If completed, the building would take on a grid-like shape, that's distinct from all other pieces of architecture in the area.

The layout of the building "allows the assemblage of publications, catalogues, and dining services to appear as a communal complex that systematically situates environmentally efficient mechanisms wherever they are necessary," as stated on DesignBoom. Moreover, the temperature would be naturally regulated with this layout, so less energy would be used for heating or cooling the place.

For people in the area, this structure would serve as an ideal learning spot, and also help with mental stimulation due to its memorable shape and layout. Hopefully Guarnieri Architects will win the proposal and go through with this design. Photo Credits: designboom, guarnieri
