Designed by Paul Kaloustian, the MYU restaurant is located in an old liquor factory in the nightlife district of Beirut and offers night owls a cool, aesthetically pleasing place to eat and party.
Kaloustian has employed a room-within-a-room concept, creating two separated spaces for the restaurant and bar. Each space is a vault, shaped by swathes of stretched, translucent black fabric and connected by a large "window" that provides patrons of either the restaurant or the bar with a view of the other. According to the Retail Design Blog, the original space -- the old liquor factory -- has not been changed; indeed, graffiti has been left on its walls and ceiling. The MYU restaurant and bar also employs indirect cold cathods lighting, which can be dimmed to define or obscure the space.
