The Mortar House office was designed by Logic Design + Build in Gujarat, India, as a shared workplace for the studio and an e-commerce company. The Mortar House office occupies a 280-square-metre floor that was reorganized by removing partitions and opening the plan to natural light, terraces, and courtyards. Brick-framed arches define circulation routes and frame views across the workspace, while new openings improve daylight and ventilation.
A restrained palette of clay brick, lime plaster, birch plywood, and leather shapes the interior. Red, yellow, and blue stained-glass panels separate meeting rooms, private offices, and presentation spaces while introducing changing light effects throughout the day. Logic also designed much of the furniture, including shared worktables, individual desks, and storage elements. There are built-in seating and planted terraces that strengthen the connection to outdoor areas.

Trend Themes
-
Biophilic Brick Architecture — The integration of brick arches and planted terraces creates opportunities for buildings that merge traditional masonry with living systems to enhance occupant wellbeing and reduce mechanical ventilation loads.
-
Adaptive Open-plan Workspaces — Reorganizing floorplates by removing partitions and introducing courtyards presents potential for flexible workspace modules that optimize daylight, cross-ventilation, and hybrid use.
-
Stained-glass Interior Partitioning — Colored glass panels that modulate light and privacy point toward new interior systems that combine aesthetic light-sculpting with acoustic zoning and visual wayfinding.
Industry Implications
-
Commercial Office Design — A shift toward material-forward, daylight-rich offices suggests market demand for designers who can deliver health-centric, low-energy workspace typologies.
-
Furniture and Joinery Manufacturing — Custom-built worktables, integrated storage, and built-in seating indicate potential for modular, material-matched furniture lines tailored to masonry-forward interiors.
-
Natural Building Materials Supply — The emphasis on clay brick, lime plaster, and birch plywood highlights opportunities for suppliers to provide certified, locally sourced natural-material systems that simplify construction and finish workflows.
