Molten Glass Fruits

These Vibrant Glass Sculptures Colorfully Display Cross Sections of Fruit

London glass sculptor Elliot Walker produced this eye-catching collection of cross-sectioned fruit through the skillful manipulation of molten glass.

Walker uses a glass sculpting technique know as 'Massello' to mold and create each of these brightly colored and carefully folded glass fruit interiors. Each piece of fruit contains a beautiful inner layer that mimics the look of fleshy fruit and immediately draws the eye towards both the attention to detail and use of color by the artist.

Another striking aspect of these molten glass fruit sculptures is the contrast between their vibrantly colored interior, and the dark and textured outer black skin that helps to contain each piece. Walker has stated that a running theme of his work is the presence of a skin used as either a container, a protective layer or as a hider of what lies within.
