Tree-Perched People Portraits

Miradors by Erwan Fichou is Bizarrely Inspired by Nature

Miradors by Erwan Fichou, a French photographer, is a bizarre photo series that captures people hiding in trees. Of course, they aren't hiding very well. With heads poking out of each treetop, it has an almost 'Where's Waldo' kind of feel to it. Especially since the trees themselves look very cartoonish.

Even stranger is the inspiration behind Miradors by Erwan Fichou. Haunted by a vision of a man he’d seen standing in a tree that "looked exactly like a UFO," he finally created a photo project after winning an artist residency in Mexico a few years later. He teamed up with city gardeners to shape trees into odd shapes and then invited them to be part of the photo themselves, which is as fitting as it is poetic.
