Cutting Edge Restrooms

Shocking Bathroom Murals

This is what happens when women get to design a men's restroom.

Recently we featured 14 of the world's strangest urinals, but this bathroom mural is more than deserving of a spot in the cluster. However, that would limit this Edge Design project to urinals, but the Men's Restroom Mural falls more under the category of innovative public toilets.

"It is the six-metre long backdrop of life-size photographs featuring local models in varying poses directly behind each of the six stands - each with a full view of the action," says Hotel News Resource.

"One has a tape measure out, one a pair of binoculars, another has a camera, a fourth is peering over her glasses and so the list goes on."

Edge Design is an interior design agency run strictly by females. Their niche is office spaces, but they had the opportunity to add their creative skills to this NYC men's restroom.

Oddly enough, the client was an all-female managed company. That gave them the opportunity to go wild in designing the obligatory men's room.

Men are serious in the bathroom, avoid eye contact, don't talk, and the chances of seeing a smile are pretty slim (and in the case a flashing of the teeth does happen, most straight men bolt out of there.) However, peeing in front of this mural would make it hard for any man to take the deed seriously.

The mural at the Sofitel in Queenstown, New Zealand was painted by the Perron Group.
