Oversized Raindrop Installations

The Melodrama Project Features Abnormally Large Raindrops

This art installation for the Sadie Coles headquarters that took place in London is called Melodrama. Switzerland artist Urs Fischer created a stunningly visual project featuring oversized pastel-colored raindrops that are suspended from the ceiling. The 3,000 multicolored plaster raindrops are suspended mid air by a barely visible monofilament producing an almost whimsical and playful atmosphere to the environment. The abnormally large pink, purple, green, blue and yellow raindrops are sharply contrasted with the headless clay figures that are lying on what seems to be rain-worn furniture sculpted from clay.

According to Fischer on her creative installation, she says, "[c]ollectively, these sculptures describe an earthbound world of disorderly, golem-like forms in contrast with the symphony of suspended shapes above."
