Diehl Aviation Has Launched the Mechanical Lift System

Diehl Aviation's Mechanical Lift System was installed on Swiss International Air Lines' Airbus A350 aircraft as part of a wider fleet program. The installation was completed by SWISS TechOps and specialists from Diehl Aviation’s Customer Service and On-Site Support.

Diehl Aviation's retrofit solution is intended to help reduce the force required to close overhead bins. The innovation reportedly does so by up to 30%. This is made possible through a purely mechanical design that requires no electrical components.

Diehl Aviation's Mechanical Lift System addresses the physical strain cabin crews experience when handling heavy carry-on luggage, particularly on long-haul flights. The mechanism can be installed into existing bin architectures without reducing storage space or requiring extended aircraft downtime.
