Ocean-Inspired Seating

Zaha Hadid Creates the Manta-Ray Chair

Conceived by Zaha Hadid, the Manta-Ray Chair looks like the creature from the ocean, however, this one is a lot less mobile.

The seating structure consists of two areas for sitting, resembling the two wings of the manta ray. The entire design is quite curved, with no incredibly straight lines. Overall the Manta-Ray Chair is simplistic, made out of an aluminum frame and cast entirely in black. Most manta-rays of the ocean are a bluish, gray color, but Hadid did not state that this chair was all that lifelike to the real thing.

For anyone looking for a chair to put in their living room that fits two, this design could certainly get people talking, and perhaps even inspire them to go for a dive!Photo Credits: designboom, sawayamoroni
