Architecture firm Kimmel Eshkolot designed the Malka restaurant in Florida. It is defined by perforated concrete blocks along the entrance and it also sections the restaurant. Malka is made up of both indoor and outdoor spaces which are inspired by tropical modernism. More Gelfand, who leads the studio's New York firm explains, "Malka's new West Palm Beach location was created to be a bridge between Tel Aviv and Palm Beach."
The studio "Concrete is woven throughout the space to create a modern interpretation of the mashrabiya that pervades light and air, and regulates temperature and humidity." Gelfand adds more about the design concept, "Our goal was to create a space that feels both authentic and welcoming. Throughout the project, we carefully curated each element to bring a piece of the Mediterranean life here in Florida."
