Louise Durham Installed Sea-Side Colorful Sculptures

Louise Durham created a series of colorful towering sculptures made from reclaimed wood. The artist used sea defense timber and vibrant stained glass to create elongated sculptures that capture the rays of the sun at all times of the day. Durham's installations are located in the coastal town of Shoreham-by-Sea, in England.

The artist embeds stripes and circles in a full spectrum of color on a tall totem to create the series. Durham uses traditional leaded light techniques and fusing and slumping to connect and melt materials in a mold. When illuminated, the sculptures cast kaleidoscopic shadows on their surroundings. The artist wishes to capture the magic of class and all living things through her installation.
