Japanese design studio Nendo collaborated with Italian material producer Alcantara to create a collection of layered fabric tables and chairs. By layering multiple pieces of fabric and then rolling them together, the artist creates a new sturdier material. This new material looks like a log that is then sliced into panels and placed in the desired shape according to what piece of furniture is being made.
The end result is a swirled marble-looking piece of furniture. This new process of creating furniture is called Alcantara. It is named after the material producer. Each piece of furniture is distinct because the material is always rolled together and cut in a slightly different way.
