Kallbadshus, a bathhouse in the small Swedish seaside town of Karlshamn, makes excellent use of two of Sweden's greatest assets. Swedish bathhouses are world famous, with the country's saunas second to none, and if there's anything else the Scandinavian peninsula is known for, it's the cold. Kallbadshus combines the two, giving occupants a rejuvenating timber shvitz that they can follow up with a drop straight into the Baltic.
The house, which was designed by White Arkitekter for Kallbadshusets Vanner (the local 'Friends of the Bathhouse' organization), is suited for year-round use, though the sea gets too cold for anything more lengthy than a polar bear dip in the winter. Rising three meters above the surface of the water on high stilts, getting down to the water requires either shimmy down twin steps or taking the leap.
