Modular Toy-Inspired Shelving

Clark Art Center's Jacob Bookcase is Playfully Practical

The Jacob Bookcase is inspired by the Jacob's ladder toy, hence its name. Similar to the classic toy, which is held together by red string, the wooden pieces used in the shelving unit are joined with red nylon strips. In addition to giving the Jacob Bookcase a bright accent, it allows the square blocks to be moved, creating a modular furniture piece.

Designed by the Brazil-based creative group known as Clark Art Center, the Jacob Bookcase is made up of five square wood frames. Reconfigurable into countless of abstract and not-so-abstract shapes, the Jacob Bookcase is suitable for variously sized spaces. Its natural aesthetic would also complement just about any existing home or office decor.
