Musical Note Man Sculptures

Istanbul Blues by Jaume Plensa Reps Music as a Universal Language

The Istanbul Blues outdoor sculpture takes the form of a crouching man made out of musical notes. Quite like the art installation made out of laser-cut alphabet letters, the Istanbul Blues sculpture has a latticed surface that is visually stunning even though it is inspired by sound.

Created by Jaume Plensa, an artist born in Barcelona, Spain, the Istanbul Blues outdoor sculpture is one of three pieces exhibited at this year's International Contemporary Art Fair in Paris, France. Displayed at Place Vendôme, the giant white figure, which soars six and a half meters (or approximately 21 feet) into the sky, represents the artist's belief that "music is part of a universal language that allows the entire humanity to communicate," according to My Modern Met.
