Kengo Kuma Creates an Asymmetrical Design for This Building

Innovation factories are not extremely common, so when Kengo Kuma took on the project of the 'Progetto Manifattura – Green Innovation Factory,' the firm wanted something crisp and distinct. The resulting structure is certainly different than most buildings found in the area.

The firm went with a horizontal look, instead of how many buildings are constructed these days, going straight up in more of a vertical rectangular form. Even though the building takes up more space on the ground, the way it's been designed allows for green space to flow throughout, instead of completely covering this area like the previous building. The outside also features what looks like stacked pieces of wood, formed in an asymmetrical manner.
