Inhabiting Ecologies is the name of one of six pavilions that were on display during the 10th annual edition of the Chart Art Fair in Copenhagen. The structure is among others that are exploring the potential of bio-architecture and progressive material sourcing.
Inhabiting Ecologies was designed in collaboration between architects Nikolaj Emil Svenningsen and Sean Lyon, and designer Søs Christine Hejselbæk. The pavilion was inspired by "the neo-classicist architecture of Charlottenborg." The skeleton of the pavilion is composed of surplus wood stock that was donated by Superwood, a sustainable wood supplier. The creators used "a series of geometric cuts of organic Kvadrat textiles" and embedded them with mycelium spores. They also used a compostable algae-based biopolymer to bond the textiles and the wooden frame.
