'Sadie Snelson Architects' recently transformed an old warehouse into a functional living space with a chic industrial interior. In urban areas such as London, there are few places left to construct entirely new buildings. As a result, many architects have figured out innovative ways of transforming old buildings into new spaces.
Prior to the renovation, the 'Clapton Warehouse 'was utilized as an industrial space. In order to turn the warehouse into a function home, the architects removed dividing walls and gave the home an open-plan arrangement. By doubling the height of the main room, the architects were able to add a mezzanine that is accessible via a folded steel staircase. Despite the major renovations, the architects left several original features visible such as unpainted walls and structural I-beams. The industrial interior is balanced by the oiled oak flooring, which adds a warm and homey touch.
