This industrial abode in Tokyo is interesting for a variety of reasons. Its unique shape is immediately eye-catching and striking even before one enters the modern home. The house is environmentally-friendly in many ways, the first being its construction. The concrete-clad structure was made with a mix of concrete and 'Shirasu,' a form of volcanic ash.
The four-storey house features a floating staircase that spirals throughout the residence. The geometric interior is mimicked through its triangular windows, creating a constant stream of light into the house. The basement of the structure has a sound-proof media space, while the second floor is an open-concept living, dining and kitchen area.
In designing the space, architects Atelier Tekuto were able to incorporate a minimalist design while subtly incorporating traditional Japanese elements.
