It is not just the art that will reel in potential guests; this art installation also features an entertainingly interactive feature. The exhibit revolves around a variety of black and white umbrellas that have been inscribed with 64 phrases from the ancient Chinese text known as ‘The Book of Changes.'
Created by artist Huang Rui, the I-Ching art installation is hosted at the Opposite House hotel in Beijing, China. When Rui is present, guests are invited to hold one of the umbrellas and form a circle. Following the artist's cue, the participating guests can then communicate with one another either aloud or in silence. From above, the umbrellas look like the yin-yang symbol.
