Decentralized healthcare solutions offer a new way to perform essential tests and perform treatments on a hyper-localized scale, which is seeing designers create new concepts like the 'Hilab.'
Designed by Ricardo Silva, the system works by allowing tests to be performed by individuals by inserting a drop of blood and connecting it to the main system that is connected to the Internet. Information is relayed to a centralized laboratory to let medical professionals take a look and deliver results within just five to 10 minutes instead of multiple days or weeks like with traditional testing.
The conceptual 'Hilab' system could be used for performing a multitude of different tests for Zika Virus, dengue, HIV and more to make the diagnosis of issues quicker to start treatment sooner.
