This South Sudan Guerrilla Photo Series is Candid

This surreal guerrilla photo series shows viewers the faces behind the headlines.

You either hear this name or read it in the news: Riek Machar's White Army in South Sudan. And now photojournalist Tim Freccia gives you the human element behind the news, so you can actually see the faces of the people you read about.

Having spent time this year in South Sudan, Freccia shares with us an unusually candid guerrilla photo series that portrays the men in Riek Machar's White Army -- "a collection of untrained and loosely coordinated fighting units composed of civilians from the Nuer ethnic group, totaling in the tens of thousands," says Freccia.

What i found fascinating about this series is the fact that these men took the time -- in-between arming themselves, shooting and looting -- to pose for a portrait.
